Government flags off ‘Kaushal Rath’ to promote AI literacy under ‘Yuva AI for All’ initiative

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT), on Tuesday launched Kaushal Rath, a mobile Artificial Intelligence (AI) awareness initiative under the National AI Literacy programme “Yuva AI for All.”

The initiative aims to democratise access to foundational AI education by reaching students, youth, educators and learners in semi-urban and underserved regions across the country.

The mobile unit, flagged off from India Gate by Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & IT Jitin Prasada, is designed as a fully equipped computer lab with internet-enabled systems, audio-visual tools and structured training modules. It will travel to schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and community spaces to provide hands-on exposure to AI and Generative AI tools, supported by trained facilitators and India-specific use cases.

Speaking at the launch, Prasada said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building an AI-ready India through inclusive digital capacity building. “Through the Yuva AI for All initiative and the Kaushal Rath, we are taking AI awareness directly to young people across regions, ensuring that opportunity and access transcend geography and demography,” he said.

He added that the programme also serves as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi next week, describing it as a significant moment for India to host a global AI summit in the Global South.

Under the IndiaAI Mission, skilling is one of the seven core pillars, said Kavita Bhatia, Scientist G at MeitY and COO of the IndiaAI Mission. She noted that Kaushal Rath advances the goal of democratising AI education at scale by combining instructor-led training, micro- and nano-credentials, and nationwide outreach.

The Yuva AI for All course is structured as a four-hour, self-paced programme comprising six modules. It requires no prior coding knowledge and focuses on AI fundamentals, ethics and real-world applications, making it accessible to learners from diverse academic backgrounds. Participants receive certification upon completion.

The programme has been launched in collaboration with partners such as Future Skills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi, Coursera and TCS iON, among others, with the aim of fostering a future-ready workforce.

In the run-up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, to be held from February 16–20 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the Kaushal Rath will travel across Delhi-NCR to facilitate on-the-spot course registrations, showcase AI use cases, and build public awareness around AI adoption.

The upcoming summit, positioned as the first global AI gathering hosted in the Global South, will focus on translating AI deliberations into development-oriented outcomes under the themes of People, Planet and Progress, aligned with India’s national priorities.
