Government launches RESET programme to empower retired sportspersons

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has urged retired sportspersons across India to apply for the newly introduced “Retired Sportsperson Empowerment Training” (RESET) Programme. This initiative, launched on National Sports Day, aims to encourage retired athletes to remain actively involved in the country’s sports ecosystem.

Dr. Mandaviya described the RESET Programme as a crucial step towards recognizing and empowering athletes who have brought pride to the nation through their achievements. He encouraged retired athletes to use this opportunity to develop new skills, stay connected to the sports community, and continue contributing to the nation’s sporting legacy.

The programme is designed to support retired athletes by providing career development opportunities and bridging the gap between generations. Through this initiative, the skills and experience of retired athletes will be passed on to young, aspiring sports talents. Dr. Mandaviya reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing full support to retired athletes and encouraged them to apply via the designated online portal.

Eligibility for the RESET Programme is open to retired athletes aged 20-50 years who have either won international medals, participated in international events, or gained recognition at the national or state level. The programme will be implemented in collaboration with the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) and will offer a combination of self-paced online learning, on-ground training, and internships. Additionally, participants will receive placement assistance and entrepreneurial guidance upon successful completion.

Applications for the RESET Programme are currently open on the official portal [https://lnipe.edu.in/resetprogram/](https://lnipe.edu.in/resetprogram/), with the course set to begin after the evaluation process.
