With the mission of enhancing access to quality skill development, relevant opportunities, and entrepreneurial support for every Indian, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled Skill India Digital (SID) on September 13. SID is a comprehensive digital platform which aims to harmonize and revolutionize the landscape of skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship in India.
During the event, several MoUs were exchanged with leading organizations to advance digital skilling, fostering industry participation, and enhancing learner engagement, including AICTE, CBSE, NIELIT, Infosys, Microsoft, AWS (Amazon), RedHat, Wadhwani Foundation, UNICEF, Future Skills Prime, SAP, Tech Mahindra Foundation.
Addressing the event, Union Minister Pradhan said, “A revolution in learning and skill development, Skill India Digital will enable skilling for all, anywhere, anytime. “He further added, “Consensus on India’s advocacy for global digital public infrastructure as well as for addressing skills gaps was the centrepiece of India’s successful G20 Presidency.”

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who also graced the event, said, “We have launched another DPI, which is the Skill India Digital DPI, aimed at creating a better future for our youth. Both Digital India and Skill India are visions of our PM that are aimed at creating a better future for our youth and the Skill India Digital is a platform that is at the intersection of the Digital India program and the Skill India program. It will certainly take the ability to deliver skills and have access to skills to even the most remotest young Indian.”

Establishing India as a global skills hub, SID will offer a range of industry-specific skill courses, job prospects, and assistance for aspiring entrepreneurs, enable people to get a more promising future. This cutting-edge platform represents a significant advancement in expediting the hiring of skilled talent, facilitating continuous learning, and supporting career progression. It is in perfect alignment with the G20 framework’s vision for establishing DPI and promoting digital skills and literacy.
The SID platform will serve as a vital link between job-seekers and employers, enabling educational institutions to adapt curricula to industry needs. It will cater to learners of all ages and stages of life, offering a multitude of skill training programs to empower individuals to boost their career prospects.
SID has been crafted to include all training programs initiated by both Central and State governments, along with various government departments. The platform’s primary objective is to bring together and consolidate government training initiatives, creating a unified and centralized hub for skill development efforts. The vision of this initiative is to leverage technology to break down long-standing barriers, both social and physical, and seamlessly connect students, teachers and industry experts for this mission to build a skilled and self-reliant India.
