Employees and officers from various departments in Kheda district have planted approximately 4,000 tree saplings across 19,000 square meters as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Under the guidance of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the initiative has created a ‘Karmayogi Van’ in Piplag village. The project, supported by the Social Forestry Department and Piplag Gram Panchayat, spans 1.90 hectares in Survey Number 386 of the village.
Chief Minister Patel is scheduled to plant a sapling in the ‘Karmayogi Van’ on August 15, 2024, during the state-level Independence Day celebrations in Nadiad. He will also unveil a symbolic sculpture of a mother and child at the heart of the forest, embodying the campaign’s spirit.
The forest was established through the collaborative efforts of officials and employees from the Revenue, Panchayat, Police, and Education Departments, who planted trees from August 7 to 10. Each tree is marked with a plaque honoring the planter’s mother.
Piplag Gram Panchayat has provided crucial support, including a bore and electric motor to nurture the saplings. A dedicated storage room for maintenance equipment and a protective cement wall around the forest have also been constructed.
