Health Minister J.P. Nadda to lead World TB Day 2026 event, launch ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ 100-days campaign

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will preside over a national-level event on March 24 to mark World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2026 at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The event is aimed at highlighting India’s progress in combating tuberculosis and reinforcing the government’s commitment to achieving a TB-free nation in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the occasion, the Health Minister will launch a series of initiatives, including the “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – 100 Days Campaign,” the TB Mukt Bharat App, and the TB Mukt Urban Ward Initiative. These measures are designed to strengthen case detection, improve treatment adherence, and enhance last-mile delivery of TB services, especially in high-burden areas.

The theme for this year, “Yes! We Can End TB!”, underscores a collective resolve to eliminate tuberculosis through intensified efforts and multi-sectoral collaboration. The initiatives are aligned with the objectives of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, which focuses on scaling up innovative strategies and community engagement.

The programme will also be attended by Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, senior government officials, public health experts, and representatives from development organisations.

The observance of World TB Day 2026 is expected to further strengthen India’s efforts to eliminate TB ahead of global targets, while promoting evidence-based interventions and sustained public participation in the fight against the disease.
