Heartbreak for Arjun Babuta, misses out on Olympic medal by whisker

Arjun Babuta narrowly missed out on an Olympic medal, finishing 4th in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event. Despite a strong start with a 10.7, Babuta faltered in the final stages, falling short of a podium finish.

China’s Sheng Lihao, 19, clinched gold with 252.2 points. Sweden’s Victor Lindgren took silver with 251.4 points, while Croatia’s Miran Maricic earned bronze with 230.0 points.

Babuta began confidently but fell to fourth after a 10.2 in his second shot. Although he briefly climbed to second place, a 9.9 in the final rounds allowed Lindgren to overtake him. Babuta ended with a score of 9.5 in his last shot, falling just short of the medal positions.

The loss on Monday follows a narrow miss for Babuta in the mixed team event with partner Ramita Jindal on Saturday, where the duo finished sixth in the qualification round, just missing out on a final berth.
