Heartwarming welcome for PM Modi from Indian diaspora in Nigeria

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora in Nigeria upon his arrival in Abuja, the capital city, on Sunday. This marks the first stop in his three-nation tour of Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana from November 17 to 21.

In a series of posts on X, PM Modi shared pictures of the vibrant reception he received, calling it “heartwarming.” He expressed his joy at the enthusiastic welcome, stating, “Heartwarming to see the Indian community in Nigeria extending such a warm and vibrant welcome!”

PM Modi also highlighted that the Marathi community in Nigeria expressed joy at Marathi being conferred the status of a Classical Language, during his interaction with the Indian diaspora.

MEA also shared pictures of the welcome extended by Nigeria and the Indian diaspora there to PM Modi.

PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory upon his arrival in Abuja, the capital city of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This visit to Nigeria comes at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is part of efforts to deepen India-Nigeria strategic ties, which are based on shared values of democracy and pluralism.

From Nigeria, PM Modi will head to Brazil for the 19th G20 Summit on November 18-19, before concluding his tour with a historic visit to Guyana, where he will address the Guyanese Parliament and honor the Indian diaspora, who have lived in the country for over 185 years.
