Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over East & South Peninsular India for next 5 days: IMD

The India Meteorological Department, IMD has forecast heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over East and South Peninsular India for the next 5 days. The heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets of Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka and East Uttar Pradesh till Tuesday.

The weather agency also said that west Uttar Pradesh and Konkan will also witness heatwave conditions from Saturday till April 29.

Informing about the month of May, the IMD said that no significant weather is likely over any parts of the country except northeast India, where light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm likely to occur during many days during May 2 to 8.

It further added that during May 2 to 8, there is moderate probability of heat wave over isolated/ some pockets of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, East Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Interior Karnataka during some days of the week; and there is low probability of heat wave over Tamil Nadu, West coast, Gujarat and Rajasthan on one or two days of the week.

Additionally, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over isolated pockets of Maharashtra and Karnataka Coast, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during many days of the week.
