The upper air cyclonic circulation, which was previously centered over southwest Madhya Pradesh, has now shifted to southwest Uttar Pradesh and its neighboring areas. Extending up to the middle tropospheric levels, the circulation is accompanied by a trough that runs from the Northeast Arabian Sea, across Gujarat, to north Bihar, further intensifying rainfall activity in various regions of the country.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its bulletin predicts the widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat over the next two days. However, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to impact Gujarat on September 28. In contrast, Saurashtra & Kutch are expected to experience dry weather starting October 2.
Scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected across Northeast India over the next two days, followed by widespread rainfall in the subsequent five days. The Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar regions are set to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 28.
Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive heavy rainfall from October 2 to 4. Isolated heavy showers are also likely over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh in the coming days.
Central India is forecast to receive light to moderate rainfall today, with scattered rainfall expected for the next six days. East Madhya Pradesh may experience isolated heavy showers on September 28.
East Uttar Pradesh is likely to see fairly widespread rainfall today, followed by isolated showers over the next six days. Uttarakhand and parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan will receive scattered light to moderate rainfall, with heavy downpours expected in East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan on September 28. Dry weather is anticipated across much of the region beginning early October.
Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep will witness widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Other regions, including Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Coastal Karnataka, are also expected to receive scattered rainfall, with heavy rainfall forecasted for select areas, including Tamil Nadu, from September 28 to October 2.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded across several states, including East Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar, as well as isolated locations in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Pradesh. The highest recorded maximum temperature of 41.7°C was reported in Pokharan, West Rajasthan.
The IMD continues to issue warnings for localized heavy rainfall, advising residents in high-risk areas to stay vigilant and take precautions to ensure safety as the monsoon persists across much of the country.
