IB shares list of 5,000 Pakistani Nationals with Delhi Police for verification and repatriation

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has handed over a list of around 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in Delhi to the city police, directing authorities to ensure their return to Pakistan.

This move follows a recent directive from the Centre after a terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam district. In response, the visas of Pakistani nationals, except for Medical, Diplomatic, and Long-Term Visas (LTVs), have been revoked.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) shared the list with the Delhi Police Special Branch, which further disseminated it to concerned district units for verification and identification. The list also includes Hindu Pakistani nationals holding LTVs, who are exempted from the directive.

“The list has been forwarded to district police teams for verification, and Pakistani nationals have been asked to return to their homeland. The Central and North-East districts have a particularly high concentration of these individuals,” a senior police official said.

The officer added that a meeting was convened to address the issue and that Delhi Police has been instructed to act promptly. Senior officers are closely monitoring the situation.

Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau personnel have been tasked with gathering information on Pakistani nationals currently residing in Delhi and ensuring their swift departure.

An officer confirmed that two lists — one containing 3,000 names and another with 2,000 — had been compiled. Some names appear on both lists, and verification is ongoing, as many Pakistani nationals may have already left the country.

On Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order revoking the visas of Pakistani nationals, effective April 27. Existing medical visas will also be rendered invalid after April 29. However, the government clarified that Long-Term Visas already granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.

According to estimates, approximately 900 Pakistani nationals reside near Majnu Ka Tila, while 600–700 are located around Signature Bridge.
