India’s recent ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph has propelled several of their star performers up the latest ODI rankings, with notable gains for Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja.
India secured their third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai on Sunday. Among the standouts, young opener Shubman Gill retained his No. 1 spot in the ODI batter rankings following a stellar tournament. Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma jumped two places to third after his Player of the Match performance in the final, where he smashed a crucial 76 off 83 balls. Veteran batsman Virat Kohli also held firm in the rankings, sitting at fifth after accumulating 218 runs throughout the tournament.
New Zealand’s top performers also saw significant improvements. Daryl Mitchell climbed one spot to sixth, Rachin Ravindra surged 14 places to 14th, and Glenn Phillips rose six spots to 24th in the ODI batter rankings. On the bowling front, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner made the biggest leap, moving six places to second after taking nine wickets, including two in the final. He now trails only Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana in the ODI bowler rankings.
India’s bowlers also saw improvements, with left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav rising three places to third, thanks to his seven wickets during the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja, who played a crucial role in India’s unbeaten run with five wickets, moved into the top 10, climbing three spots to 10th.
In the all-rounder rankings, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai remains on top, but New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, and Rachin Ravindra closed the gap. Santner moved up to fourth, Bracewell jumped seven places to seventh, and Ravindra soared eight spots to eighth, after his brilliant performances, including two centuries and three wickets, which earned him the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
