The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.
Several areas in Mumbai have experienced waterlogging due to continuous overnight rainfall.
A monsoon trough combined with a cyclonic circulation over the city has resulted in strong westerly winds, contributing to the intense downpour.
King’s Circle and Navi Mumbai are among the worst-affected areas. Railway traffic remains unaffected, but some Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) buses have been diverted via Sion Circle due to waterlogging.
The Palghar region is also under an orange alert and has been experiencing heavy rainfall since morning.
