The third phase of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign began on August 9 and will run until August 15. This initiative is a key part of the larger celebration of India’s 78th Independence Day, designed to bring citizens together in paying tribute to the national flag.
First introduced in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has evolved into a widespread movement, urging citizens to display the national flag at their homes. The campaign aims to instill a sense of patriotism and increase awareness of the significance of the national flag.
New Addition in 2024: Tiranga Bike Rally
This year’s campaign includes a new event, the Tiranga Bike Rally, set to take place on August 13. Organized by Members of Parliament, the rally will commence at Bharat Mandapam, travel through India Gate, and conclude at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium.
On August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged citizens to engage in the campaign by updating their social media profile pictures and sharing selfies with the tricolour on the official website, harghartiranga.com.

Proper Order: Ensure the saffron band is on top, followed by white in the middle and green at the bottom.
Correct Position: The flag must never be hoisted inverted.
Condition of the Flag: Always use a flag in good condition; a torn or damaged flag should not be hoisted.
Display Protocol: The flag should always be upright and never dipped.
Respectful Use: The flag is not to be used as decoration or part of a costume, uniform, or accessory.
Size Ratio: The flag’s size should always maintain a 3:2 ratio.
