India-Germany friendship deepening across all fronts: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the strengthening relationship between India and Germany, speaking alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is on a two-day state visit to India.

Addressing the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, PM Modi said, “On one hand, the CEO Forum meeting is underway, while on the other, our navies are conducting joint exercises. German naval ships are currently making a port call in Goa, and soon, we will commence the seventh round of intergovernmental consultations between India and Germany.”

Celebrating 25 years of the India-Germany strategic partnership, PM Modi expressed optimism that their bilateral relationship would reach new heights over the next 25 years.

PM Modi also praised the recent release of the “Focus on India” document by the German Cabinet, which underscores the scope for collaborative efforts between the two leading economies to tackle global challenges.

He welcomed Germany’s decision to increase its annual visa quota for skilled Indian professionals from 20,000 to 90,000, noting that this initiative would contribute significantly to Germany’s economic development.

“Our mutual trade now exceeds $30 billion, with hundreds of German companies operating in India and an increasing number of Indian companies expanding in Germany,” PM Modi said.

Promoting India as a hub for global trade and manufacturing, he added, “Today, India is becoming the biggest center for diversification and de-risking. This is the ideal time for you to ‘Make in India, Make for the World.’”
