The border guarding forces of India and Nepal are set to convene a three-day bilateral meeting in New Delhi from November 6 to 8. During this meeting, they will engage in discussions aimed at tackling trans-frontier crimes and ensuring the prompt sharing of intelligence inputs.
According to reports, India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) director general Rashmi Shukla and Nepal’s visiting inspector general of the Armed Police Force (APF), Raju Aryal, will head their respective teams for the seventh annual coordination talks between the two nations.
An official statement has highlighted the significance of talks held at the leadership level of the two border forces. These discussions provide a crucial platform for both the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Armed Police Force (APF) to engage in dialogue concerning border-related matters.
The primary objective of the SSB and APF delegations is to enhance coordination between the two border guarding forces, with a specific focus on more effectively managing the open and unfenced India-Nepal border.
The central “focus” of this meeting will be on establishing efficient mechanisms to jointly combat trans-border crimes and facilitate the rapid exchange of critical information between the two forces.
The SSB, operating under the Union Home Ministry, is responsible for safeguarding the 1,751 km India-Nepal international border. These annual talks have been conducted alternately in India and Nepal since 2012.
