India rejects OIC references, accuses Pakistan of pushing anti-India agenda

India has rejected references to it in resolutions adopted at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Baghdad on October 17–18, describing them as “malicious, biased, and false” and accusing Pakistan of orchestrating them.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed disappointment that the OIC had “once again allowed itself to be misused by Pakistan for its bigoted agenda”.

The Ministry reiterated that the organisation had no standing to comment on matters strictly internal to India. It asserted that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were integral and inalienable parts of the country and that politically motivated propaganda could not change that position.

The MEA said Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed significant economic growth since the abrogation of Article 370, with infrastructure development, tourism and improved connectivity benefiting residents.

Contrasting this with conditions in PoJK, the Ministry said that Pakistan has unleashed violence, repression and brutality on civilian protesters, killing scores of them, including women and children. No amount of media blackout has been able to hide these grave violations of human rights.

“The only issues related to Jammu and Kashmir that remain to be addressed are Pakistan vacating from areas under its illegal and forcible occupation and ceasing its continued support to cross-border terrorism,” the statement said.

The ministry also rejected other references in the resolutions, including allegations concerning Islamophobia. It described them as an attempt by Pakistan to divert international attention from its own record on minority persecution, sectarian violence, governance failures and political instability.

Questioning the OIC’s credibility and integrity over its repeated endorsement of what India called Pakistan-driven propaganda, the MEA urged member countries to reform the organisation.
