India and Russia on Monday held Foreign Office Consultations in the national capital, reviewing the full spectrum of their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and discussing key bilateral, regional and global issues.
The consultations were co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both sides assessed ongoing cooperation and exchanged views on developments of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership.
The discussions come amid continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries across multiple platforms. Earlier this month, India and Russia held the 7th UN Consultations in New Delhi, focusing on issues related to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), including counter-terrorism, peacekeeping and reforms of the Council.
On March 11, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which both sides shared their assessment of the situation in West Asia and reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation.
The recent engagements also follow the State visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India in December, when he held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit marked 25 years of the India-Russia Strategic Partnership.
During the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held alongside the visit, both sides outlined priorities for future cooperation, with focus areas including energy, nuclear power, trade, defence and technology.
