India, Slovenia hold 10th Foreign Office Consultations; boost cooperation in trade, technology, and defence

The 10th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Slovenia was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking another significant step in enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The Indian delegation was led by Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Slovenian side was headed by Marko Štucin, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.

During the consultations, both sides conducted a comprehensive review of the progress made in various facets of bilateral cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Slovenia partnership, focusing on areas of mutual benefit. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including political relations, trade and investment, science and technology, innovation, space exploration, digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), migration and mobility, defence, agriculture, as well as people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties.

Both delegations also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration in addressing contemporary global challenges.

A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement that India and Slovenia will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2027. The two sides agreed to mark this significant milestone in a manner that reflects the strength and depth of their partnership.

In addition to the consultations, Marko Štucin also made a courtesy call on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. This meeting further underscored the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations.
