“Indian Air Force admired for courage, professionalism”: PM Modi extends greetings to air warriors on Air Force Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his greetings to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on the occasion of its 92nd anniversary, praising the force for its courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s skies.

In a post on X, PM Modi lauded the bravery and dedication of IAF personnel. “Air Force Day greetings to our brave air warriors. Our Air Force is admired for their courage and professionalism. Their role in protecting our nation is extremely commendable,” he wrote.

The theme of this year’s Air Force Day is “Bhartiya Vayu Sena – Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar”, reflecting the IAF’s focus on strengthening its capabilities while advancing towards self-reliance in defense technologies.

“On the occasion of its 92nd Anniversary, the Indian Air Force extends heartfelt greetings to all Airwarriors, DSC personnel, civilians, NCEs, and their families who stand strong behind them. Their courage, commitment, and excellence continue to inspire the nation,” the IAF posted on it’s official handle on X

Home Minister Amit Shah echoed the sentiments, honoring the valiant air warriors for their role in defending the nation’s sovereignty. “The valor of our air warriors has roared in the skies, safeguarding the sovereignty of our nation every moment with their courage, patriotism, and sacrifice. Salutes to the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the honor of the nation,” he wrote on X.

Other political leaders, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, also extended their greetings. “On Air Force Day, my heartfelt respect to the brave men and women of the Indian Air Force. Your unwavering dedication keeps our skies safe and our spirits high. We are forever indebted to your selfless service and sacrifices. Jai Hind,” said Gandhi on X.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge similarly lauded the IAF’s role in protecting the nation. “On the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force, we extend our greetings and felicitations to all the air warriors, personnel, veterans, and their families and wish them success in all their future endeavors,” Kharge said, adding that the IAF has “led the way in safeguarding our skies with unmatched bravery, unbridled courage, and unequaled professionalism.”

Every year, India observes Indian Air Force Day on October 8 to honor the men and women who serve in the IAF and to commemorate the establishment of the force. The IAF was formed on October 8, 1932, during British rule as an auxiliary force. Its first operational flight took place on April 1, 1933. Since then, the Indian Air Force has evolved into one of the world’s most powerful air forces, playing critical roles in both military operations and humanitarian missions.
