Indian Army on path to Aatmanirbharta, says Gen Upendra Dwivedi

General Upendra Dwivedi assumed his role as the new Chief of Army Staff today, expressing his honour in leading the Indian Army and assuring the nation of the force’s readiness to face current and future challenges.

After inspecting a guard of honour at South Block, General Dwivedi said, “This is a matter of immense pride and honour for me to be assigned the responsibility to lead the Indian Army. The glorious traditions and the legacy of the valour and the sacrifices of our soldiers. On this occasion, I pay my respects to the brave hearts who made so many sacrifices in the line of duty.”

He, further, added, “The Indian army faces unique operational charges and to remain prepared for such threats and destructive equipments, it is crucial that we continuously equip our soldiers with state-of-the-art weapons and technology and also evolve our war-fighting strategies.”

General Dwivedi outlined his vision for the Army’s future, stating, “The Indian Army is on the path to transform and become Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant). To achieve this, we will encourage indigenous initiatives and induct maximum war systems and equipment that are manufactured in our country.”

He also reaffirmed his commitment to veterans, Veer Naris (war widows), and their families, calling it a “sacred commitment” and promising full support to this extended military family.
