The Indian stock market closed on a positive note on Tuesday, supported by favorable domestic and global factors.

The Sensex ended 169.62 points higher, or 0.22%, at 76,499.63, while the Nifty gained 90.10 points, or 0.39%, to close at 23,176.05.

Adani Group stocks performed strongly, with all group companies closing in the green. Adani Enterprises emerged as the top Nifty 50 gainer with a 7.05% rise, while Adani Ports and Adani Energy Solutions ended with gains of 5.25% and 12.23%, respectively. Adani Green Energy and Adani Power posted higher gains of 13.52% and 20%, respectively.

The rally was notably driven by midcap and smallcap stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 rose by 1,286.10 points, or 2.45%, to 53,676.50, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 added 335.70 points, or 1.98%, to settle at 17,257.80.

The total market capitalization of companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) increased by Rs 6 lakh crore to approximately Rs 423 lakh crore.

Experts attributed the broader market gains to a rebound in global equities and easing domestic Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation, which improved market sentiment.

On the BSE, 2,881 stocks advanced, 1,087 declined, and 105 remained unchanged.

Sector-wise, indices for auto, public sector banks, financial services, pharmaceuticals, metals, real estate, media, energy, private banking, and infrastructure recorded gains. Meanwhile, IT and FMCG sectors closed lower due to concerns over subdued Q4 earnings forecasts.

Among Sensex components, top gainers included Adani Ports, NTPC, Zomato, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Power Grid. On the losing side, HCL Tech, Hindustan Unilever, Titan, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and UltraTech Cement saw declines.
