Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with CEO and Chairman of the Railway Board, Satish Kumar, reviewed the crowd management at Prayagraj Railway Stations from the war room at Rail Bhavan on Wednesday. The Minister emphasized that Indian Railways is working tirelessly to ensure pilgrims return home without delays after the holy bath on Maghi Purnima. He directed officials to make trains available in all directions and instructed the Prayagraj division to run additional trains as needed to alleviate passenger congestion, ensuring comfort in holding areas.
As per the Mahakumbh Railway Information Bulletin, by 6:00 PM on Wednesday, 225 trains had been operated, facilitating the travel of over 12.46 lakh passengers. On Tuesday, 343 trains were run, transporting more than 14.69 lakh passengers. Indian Railways is continuously updating passengers on train schedules through various channels, including special bulletins, holding zones, stations, social media, and other media platforms.
For the convenience of passengers, four holding areas near Prayagraj Junction (each with a capacity of 5,000) have been fully operational. A new holding area at Khusrobagh, with a capacity of 100,000 passengers, has also been opened for Maghi Purnima, offering lodging, meals, and essential services to ensure passengers’ comfort while they wait for their trains.
