Indian youth and women to drive global innovation and leadership, says Lok Sabha Speaker

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday underscored the pivotal role of India’s youth and women in driving global transformation through innovation, research, and leadership. Speaking at the Business Conclave organized by Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University, Birla highlighted India’s growing influence in shaping the world’s future and called upon young minds to embrace creativity, perseverance, and technology-driven progress.

“The youth of India will pioneer groundbreaking innovations and establish the country as a global leader in research,” he said. He also praised the resilience of Indian women, noting that they are at the forefront of the nation’s progress and will emerge as torchbearers of change in various fields.

Birla acknowledged that technological advancements are expanding human potential, urging students to embrace new developments while remaining conscious of their societal impact. “The world will soon look to India as the epicenter of change and progress,” he said, encouraging students to become architects of global transformation.

Reflecting on student life, Birla called it the “golden phase,” a time of immense potential and opportunity. He advised students to set clear goals and pursue them with unwavering determination, emphasizing that success is not merely about ambition but relentless effort and innovation. He further stressed that resource limitations should not hinder one’s progress, highlighting that self-confidence and resilience are the key drivers of both personal and national growth.

Later in the day, while addressing the 65th batch of the National Defence College (NDC) in Parliament, Birla emphasized that dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding are essential in today’s interconnected world. Speaking to 124 Indian officers and 32 foreign officers, he urged them to adopt the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” to foster global peace and resolve conflicts.

Highlighting the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, Birla lauded the vision of the Constituent Assembly and reaffirmed that India’s parliamentary democracy remains a robust and inclusive mechanism for governing a diverse nation. He also stressed the critical role of civil servants and military leadership in shaping national progress, urging them to use technology for better governance and capacity-building.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in elevating India’s global standing, citing initiatives such as the G-20 presidency and the International Solar Alliance. He also highlighted efforts to digitize parliamentary records, ensuring greater transparency and accessibility in governance.

“India’s strength lies in its ability to modernize while staying true to its democratic and cultural roots,” he concluded.
