Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday.
This will be Prabowo’s first visit to India since taking office as President of Indonesia in October 2024.
India and Indonesia have a long history of ties that have developed into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent years. Indonesia also plays a key role in India’s Act East Policy and its vision for the Indo-Pacific region.
The state visit is expected to facilitate a detailed review of the bilateral relationship between the two nations, focusing on cooperation in economic, cultural, and strategic areas. Leaders from both sides will also engage in discussions on regional and global matters of shared interest, reinforcing the significance of the partnership.
