International Conference on Innovations in Unani Medicine concludes, highlights integrative health solutions

The International Conference on “Innovations in Unani Medicine for Integrative Health Solutions – A Way Forward,” organised by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, concluded successfully at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Wednesday. The conference was part of the Unani Day 2025 celebrations and took place in a hybrid format.

The event was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu in the presence of Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and other key ministries, along with Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State for Ayush. The conference featured a range of discussions and scientific sessions on topics like “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Ayush/Traditional Medicine,” “Unani Medicine for Globalized Health,” and “Advancements in Regimental Therapies,” among others.

National and international experts shared their knowledge on various aspects of Unani medicine, and the conference saw significant participation from stakeholders in industry, academia, and research organizations, both in person and online. A notable highlight of the event was the transfer of patented technology developed by CCRUM, including Unani toothpaste for dental care and a regimen for vitiligo treatment, to companies like Dehlvi Naturals and Hamdard Laboratories.

During the valedictory session, Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, emphasised the rich heritage and holistic approach of Unani medicine, highlighting its potential to address modern health challenges. She encouraged continued collaboration and efforts to enhance scientific validation and global accessibility of Unani practices.

Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmad, Director General of CCRUM stressed CCRUM’s commitment to pioneering advanced research and promoting evidence-based practices to elevate Unani medicine’s global recognition.

The conference concluded with the launch of new books, videos, and a barley-based Unani diet.
