ISRO to launch earth observation satellite on Independence Day

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will commemorate Independence Day by launching an Earth Observation Satellite (EOS) using a Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV).

ISRO announced that the SSLV’s third and final development flight is scheduled for August 15th at 9:17 A.M. from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The mission, designated SSLV-D3/EOS-08, will carry the micro-satellite EOS-08, which weighs approximately 175.5 kg.

The EOS-08 mission’s primary objectives include the design and development of a micro-satellite, the creation of payload instruments compatible with the micro-satellite bus, and the incorporation of new technologies necessary for future operational satellites. According to ISRO, this mission will complete the SSLV Development Project and pave the way for operational missions by Indian industry and the public sector entity NewSpace India Ltd.
