Jaishankar meets Georgian counterpart in Abu Dhabi, discusses trade, connectivity and regional developments

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday met his Georgian counterpart Maka Botchorishvili in Abu Dhabi and discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas including business, connectivity and culture.

The meeting came as Jaishankar began a three-day visit to the UAE.

“Glad to meet FM Maka Botchorishvili of Georgia,” EAM Jaishankar said in a post on X.

“Our ties, including in trade, tourism & education, have been expanding,” he added.

The two ministers discussed further deepening cooperation in business, connectivity, culture and people-to-people domains, EAM Jaishankar said, adding that they also exchanged views on current regional developments.

EAM Jaishankar arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Wednesday and was received by UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy.

During the visit, EAM will hold a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Abdullah to review the progress of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement ahead of his visit.

He will also participate in discussions at the second edition of the Raisina Middle East event in Abu Dhabi.

Last month, Jaishankar met Sheikh Abdullah and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, where they reviewed progress in trilateral cooperation across agreed areas of mutual interest and discussed the situation in West Asia.
