Jaishankar, Touhid likely to hold talks in Muscat: Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesperson

Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain is likely to hold a bilateral talk with Indian External Affair Minister Dr S Jaishankar on the sideline of Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat being held from February 16-17.

Oman’s Foreign Minister and India’s External Affairs Minister have invited Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser to participate in the conference, to be jointly organized by Indian and Oman’s foreign ministries, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said at the weekly media briefing on Thursday afternoon.

In response to a question, the spokesperson said the agenda of the bilateral talks is yet to finalize, reports Bangladesh Sanghbad Sangstha (BSS). 

The 8th Indian Ocean Conference is being organised by India Foundation in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman on February 16-17, 2025 in Muscat, Oman. The theme for this year of the Conference is Voyages to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership.

The Indian Ocean Conference was started by India Foundation in 2016 at Singapore, with participation from 30 countries. In the last 8 years, the Conference has emerged as the flagship consultative forum for countries in the region over regional affairs. The Conference endeavours to bring critical states and principal maritime partners of the region together on a common platform to deliberate upon the prospects of regional cooperation for Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
