JioStar, the newly formed joint venture between Viacom18 and Star India, has officially launched JioHotstar, uniting the streaming services of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.

The platform now offers nearly three lakh hours of entertainment, live sports, and caters to over 50 crore users, according to an official statement.

“At the core of JioHotstar is a vision to make premium entertainment accessible to all Indians. Our promise of ‘Infinite Possibilities’ ensures that entertainment is not a privilege but a shared experience. By integrating AI-driven recommendations and offering streaming in over 19 languages, we are personalizing content like never before,” said Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar.

JioHotstar offers subscription plans tailored for diverse audiences, starting at Rs. 149 per quarter. Existing JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscribers can transition seamlessly to the new platform.

The service brings top Hollywood content from Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount onto a single platform. It also introduces ‘Sparks,’ a flagship initiative showcasing India’s leading digital creators through innovative formats.

“JioHotstar is setting a new benchmark for digital-first entertainment. The platform is immersive, inclusive, and audience-centric. While we offer extensive entertainment, we remain committed to innovating and elevating storytelling, ensuring every Indian, regardless of language, discovers content they love,” said Kevin Vaz, CEO – Entertainment, JioStar.

JioHotstar will stream major tournaments such as ICC events, IPL, and WPL while also highlighting grassroots cricket through the Indian Street Premier League and other competitions from BCCI, ICC, and state associations. It will also bring global sporting events like the Premier League and Wimbledon, along with domestic leagues such as Pro Kabaddi and ISL.

“Sports in India is more than just a game—it’s a shared experience that unites millions. JioHotstar is transforming how fans engage with live sports by integrating technology, storytelling, and accessibility,” said Sanjog Gupta, CEO – Sports, JioStar.

The platform aims to offer diverse experiences, catering to both interactive and passive viewing preferences across a billion screens. Beyond sports, it seeks to bring culture-defining live experiences to audiences nationwide.
