Jos Buttler steps down as England white-ball captain after Champions Trophy exit

Jos Buttler has resigned as England’s white-ball captain following their premature exit from the ICC Champions Trophy.

England’s campaign ended in disarray on Wednesday as a determined Afghanistan side outplayed them in the group stage, sealing their elimination.

The team’s dismal run in the 50-over format—marked by seven consecutive defeats under Buttler’s leadership—has come under sharp criticism, with the skipper bearing the brunt of the scrutiny.

The 34-year-old will lead England for the final time in their last group match against South Africa on Saturday.
