K Sanjay Murthy sworn in as India’s new Comptroller and Auditor General

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday administered the oath of office to K Sanjay Murthy as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in a solemn ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

During the oath-taking ceremony, Murthy pledged allegiance to the Constitution of India, vowing to uphold the country’s sovereignty and integrity. His oath reflected a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to the principles of fairness, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law.

Murthy said, “I swear by God to uphold the Constitution of India established by law. I will maintain the sovereignty and integrity of India with all my ability, knowledge, and wisdom. I will perform the duties of my position without fear, prejudice, affection, or malice.”

Known for his expertise and extensive public service, Murthy succeeds Girish Chandra Murmu, taking on the key constitutional responsibility of auditing government accounts, promoting financial discipline, and ensuring transparency across public institutions.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, dignitaries, and members of the judiciary.
