Kashmir to Kanyakumari rail connectivity by the year 2024

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that Kashmir valley would be connected through railway with Kanyakumari by the end of this financial year. It will connect the valley with all important commercial centres of the country,” he added. He said redevelopment of Railway stations in the UT will give huge boost to connectivity and ease of travel for passengers. 

Sinha was attending the ceremony at an event at Budgam Railway station. He announced that Kashmir valley will be connected to Kanyakumari through railway by the year 2024. Sinha made the announcement at the inauguration of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

Sinha expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and tweeted giving information that three stations of J&K Union Territory (UT)– Jammu Tawi, Udhampur and Budgam will be developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The Lt Governor said under the guidance of the Prime Minister, India is witnessing rail projects of unprecedented magnitude in Kashmir Valley. The Lt Governor highlighted the ongoing railway projects and the overall transformation taking place in the railway sector.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K, Centre has taken various initiatives to boost the infrastructure development in the UT. Various central schemes are being run for people to avail the benefits. Valley is witnessing the development projects that are aimed to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
