Ladakh integral part of India, says MEA in response to Chinese remarks about the union territory

India on Tuesday reiterated that Ladakh is an integral and inalienable part of the country, rejecting comments made by the Chinese side regarding the Union Territory.

“No amount of denial by the Chinese side can change this established fact,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to media queries.

Addressing references to a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announcement, Jaiswal said 28 places/features located in Ladakh have been identified with standard place and feature names on the official map of Survey of India.

The exercise was undertaken in consultation with the Union Territory administration and local stakeholders, he said.

“Identifying these places formally on the Survey of India map of UT of Ladakh is aimed at facilitating their accurate recognition and better awareness among the public at large,” added Jaiswal, describing the Home Ministry’s release as self-explanatory.
