Ladakh: Multi-faith leaders perform yoga in unison in Leh on World Yoga Day

On the 10th UN International Day of Yoga, multi-faith leaders gathered in Leh, Ladakh, to participate in a unified yoga session organized by the Indian Minorities Foundation. The event showcased India’s cultural diversity and the universal appeal of yoga.

Religious leaders from various faiths praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in promoting yoga globally. Bhikku Sanghsena, leader of the Maha Bodhi International Meditation Centre, commended Modi’s initiative, saying, “It is through PM Modi’s efforts that yoga has spread to every corner of the world.”

Swami Dayadhipanada, Medical Superintendent of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, highlighted yoga’s potential in addressing modern lifestyle diseases. He emphasized that yoga could prevent and even reverse conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol.

The celebration extended beyond Ladakh, with yoga sessions held across India. Navy personnel on the INS Vikramaditya, Army units in Eastern Ladakh, and Indo-Tibetan Border Police at high-altitude locations like Pangong Tso all participated in yoga drills.

Prime Minister Modi led the main event in Srinagar, Kashmir, urging citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. The theme for this year, “Yoga for Self and Society,” underscores the practice’s role in promoting individual well-being and social harmony.
