The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has integrated its Bhashini language translation platform to provide multilingual support at the Maha Kumbh 2025, held from January 13 to February 26.
This initiative aims to ensure seamless communication and greater accessibility for millions of pilgrims attending the world’s largest spiritual event.
Bhashini’s ‘Digital Lost & Found Solution’ is a key feature, enabling visitors to register lost or found items using voice inputs in their native languages, with real-time text and voice translations simplifying interactions.
A multilingual chatbot further assists pilgrims with queries and navigation through kiosks, while instructions and guidelines are translated into local languages, ensuring a user-friendly experience.
The platform also enhances communication between pilgrims and police officers, breaking down language barriers for a smoother experience.
In collaboration with the UP Police, Bhashini’s CONVERSE feature supports communication with the 112 emergency helpline, with officers trained to assist devotees in overcoming language challenges.
By integrating Bhashini into the event, MeitY seeks to make the Mahakumbh 2025 more inclusive and accessible, leveraging multilingual technology and AI innovation to enhance the experience for all attendees.
