In Badminton, Indian shuttlers continue to thrive. On Wednesday, the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated M.S. Fikri and B. Maulana of Indonesia in the men’s doubles event 21-18 21-19.
However, Prannoy H.S lost to Denmark’s A. Antonsen 14-21 11-21 in the round of 32.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, India’s Srikanth Kidambi advanced to the second round of Malaysia Open at Kuala Lumpur, defeating World number five, Indonesian Jonatan Christie 12-21 21-18 21-16 in the opening round. Srikanth will next face former World number one, Hong Kong’s NG Ka Long Angus in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday.
In the women’s doubles, the pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto moved to the second round after overpowering American duo Francesca Corbett and Allison Lee 21-13, 21-16 in the first round. They will next face Japan’s W. Nagahara and M. Matsumoto at 7:30am (IST).
Further, Lakhsya Sen will also be in action today and go head-to-head against H. Weng in the first round.
