May Akshaya Tritiya give new strength to Viksit Bharat, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm greetings on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, expressing hope that the festival would serve as a source of renewed strength for the nation’s collective vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Celebrated annually, Akshaya Tritiya—also known as Akha Teej or Akti—is a significant Hindu festival believed to bring prosperity, good fortune, and lasting success. Traditionally, people mark the day by purchasing gold, symbolising wealth and security, in hopes of inviting future blessings.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Infinite best wishes to all of you on Akshaya Tritiya. May this auspicious festival dedicated to humanity bring success, prosperity and happiness to everyone, and give new strength to the resolve of a Viksit Bharat.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his wishes, saying, “Infinite best wishes for Akshaya Tritiya, the festival symbolising the confluence of nature and culture. I wish that this holy festival brings eternal virtue, good fortune and prosperity into everyone’s life.”

Union Minister J.P. Nadda joined in the greetings, stating, “I convey my heartfelt best wishes to all of you on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, which bestows everlasting virtuous results. May this auspicious day bring an inexhaustible flow of happiness, prosperity and auspicious opportunities into your lives. May everyone’s life be blessed with positivity, divinity and self-awareness.”

The word Akshaya signifies something that is eternal or indestructible, while Tritiya refers to the third day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) in the Hindu lunar calendar. The day is considered highly auspicious for starting new ventures, making valuable purchases, and performing religious rituals. It is believed that actions undertaken on this day yield lifelong blessings.

Akshaya Tritiya also coincides with Parashurama Jayanti, which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Vishnu’s sixth incarnation. Devotees also offer prayers to Lord Shiva, reflecting the deep spiritual and cultural significance of the festival.
