Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to the nation on the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to Goddess Kaalratri, praying for the well-being and prosperity of all citizens.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “I bow at the feet of Devi Maa! I pray that she will remove all sorrows and infuse new radiance into their lives. May the blessings of the Devi Maa bring prosperity to all.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also conveyed his wishes on social media, saying, “The seventh form of Goddess Durga, Maa Kaalratri, destroys the wicked and grants protection to her devotees. May the animate and inanimate world prosper, and may everyone’s life be filled with happiness, prosperity, and health.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the significance of Maa Kaalratri’s worship, noting that this form of the goddess teaches that faith and courage can overcome all darkness. “We pray to Maa Kaalratri that with her blessings, all negative forces be destroyed, and peace, harmony, and new energy prevail in society. May all devotees receive the boon of Maa’s boundless strength and fearlessness,” she said.
Kaalratri, whose name combines “kaal” (time or death) and “ratri” (night or darkness), symbolizes the force that ends darkness, signifying the emergence of light and wisdom. Depicted with a dark complexion and four arms, Maa Kaalratri embodies both fear and protection. She bestows boons, offers fearlessness, and wields a sword and iron club to vanquish evil.
Navratri celebrations continue across the country, with thousands of devotees visiting temples to offer prayers to Goddess Durga.
