The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a public advisory warning against fraudulent emails and documents circulating in the name of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) officials. This alert comes in response to numerous complaints from associations and NGOs who have been targeted by scammers impersonating MHA officials and demanding money for FCRA services.
According to the advisory, fraudsters are using fake logos, official email addresses, and documents bearing the names of FCRA Division officials to solicit payments from unsuspecting individuals and organizations. The ministry has strongly cautioned the public against responding to such fraudulent communications or providing any personal information or payments.
“All concerned are informed that any service under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA, 2010) such as registration, renewal, prior permission, change of details compounding, revision etc. may be availed by making application only through the online FCRA portal ‘https://fcraonline.nic.in’,” the advisory stated. It further emphasized that any required payments for FCRA services should only be made through the online payment gateway on the official FCRA portal.
To address genuine FCRA-related issues or queries, the ministry has directed individuals and organizations to seek assistance from the FCRA support team or Help Desk. This can be done by visiting the website https://helpdesk.fcraonline.gov.in, sending an email to support-fcra@gov.in, or calling the phone numbers 011-23077504/23077505.
