Mudra Yojana completes 11 years; PM Modi says scheme aided youth self-employment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the success of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) as the scheme completed 11 years since its launch, saying it has played a significant role in promoting self-employment among the youth.

In a post on X, the PM said: “The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, launched exactly 11 years ago, has proven to be very helpful in promoting self-employment among the youth. The success of the scheme shows that when given the right opportunities, individuals can not only become self-reliant but also contribute to the nation’s progress.”

He also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the qualities of a wise person: “Self-knowledge is the beginning, forbearance is the constancy of dharma.He who is not distressed by adversities is truly called a wise man. #11YearsOfMUDRA.”

Launched in April 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana aims to provide collateral-free loans to micro and small enterprises to support entrepreneurship and job creation. Over the years, the scheme has become one of the government’s flagship initiatives to encourage small businesses and self-employment, particularly among youth and women.
