The 16th Edition of the NADA Auto Show 2024, which began on August 27th, is set to conclude on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu. This year’s event has been marked by a significant focus on electric vehicles, reflecting Nepal’s growing interest in sustainable transportation.
The NADA Auto Show has become a major attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each day. The event features a variety of automotive products, including cars, bikes, scooters, and commercial vehicles. Notably, around 90% of the four-wheelers showcased are electric, with a strong representation from Chinese brands alongside budget-friendly and premium models from India and China.
Nepal’s push towards electric vehicles is driven by substantial incentives for electric car owners, in stark contrast to the high taxes and duties imposed on petrol and diesel vehicles. This policy shift is fueling competition and innovation within the electric vehicle sector.
To engage the crowd, various companies have organized competitions, lotteries, and quiz shows throughout the six-day event, offering helmets and other freebies as prizes. Indian brands such as TATA.ev, Yamaha, and Bajaj have attracted visitors with their consumer-friendly and cost-effective vehicle designs.
In addition to vehicle displays, the auto show features special promotions and discounts in anticipation of the Dashain and Chhath festivals. Banks and financial institutions are also offering tailored schemes to assist with vehicle purchases, further enhancing the event’s appeal.
The NADA Auto Show continues to be a significant platform for showcasing advancements in the automotive industry and reflecting the evolving preferences of Nepali consumers.
