The Armed Police Force of Nepal confirmed the death of 125 people and the other 64 still missing whereas more than 61 people are injured. The rainfall-induced flood damaged 322 houses and 16 bridges, while 3267 people were rescued.
The Armed Police Force of Nepal has confirmed more than 48 deaths in Kathmandu Valley alone. According to the police, more than 1500 people have been rescued from Kathmandu Valley, 853 people have been rescued from Koshi, 56 from Madhesh province, and 494 from Bagmati.
Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh has directed all government machinery to mobilize quick disaster response and called for an All-party meeting today in Singh Durbar to discuss the current flood situation in Nepal. Security personnel are working round the clock in search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation with the help of civil servants, community-based organisations, political parties, civil society and local people themselves.
After the weather across the country improved this afternoon, domestic air transport service has resumed from Tribhuvan International Airport as well as eight other airports in the country. Flights using the Instrument Flight Rules system have been permitted until 10:00 pm tonight.
It may be noted that more than 400 flights were cancelled on Friday and Saturday due to bad weather. The Tribhuvan International Airport sees around 150 to 160 daily flights. Regular flights have resumed from all airports except Surkhet airport.
