Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains from 26 September to 28 September caused more than 240 deaths. The government of Nepal has provided financial assistance of NPR 47.6 million to the families of 238 deceased individuals. The relief distribution process is ongoing for the families of the remaining 12 individuals who lost their lives in the disaster.
The disaster caused serious infrastructure damage in Nepal with roads and 55 bridges that were destroyed. Nepali Army and Nepal Police force were deployed for rescue operations and to provide relief materials to flood victims in disaster affected areas.
The government has declared the flood affected municipalities in disaster-hit districts as crisis areas for three months. Government has decided to provide relief funds ranging from NPR 5 to 10 million to the affected municipalities.
