The National Health Authority (NHA) has invited students, researchers, developers and startups to participate in the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon 2026, aimed at building scalable digital solutions to streamline health insurance claims processing under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
The hackathon seeks to develop innovative systems that can integrate with existing infrastructure, reduce manual intervention, speed up claim processing and ensure a more efficient and transparent adjudication framework. Currently, the scheme processes nearly 50,000 claims daily across over 1,900 treatment packages, with only 15–20 per cent of claims being auto-adjudicated.
Officials said the increasing volume and complexity of claims require advanced solutions using automation, artificial intelligence-based fraud detection, standardised documentation and real-time verification to enable fully digitised processing.
The NHA has already received an enthusiastic response, with more than 2,600 participants registered from across the country. The last date for registration is April 13, 2026.
To support participants, the authority will conduct a three-part masterclass series starting April 13. The sessions will provide insights into the claims ecosystem, challenge statements and potential solution pathways.
The hackathon will conclude with a two-day offline grand finale on May 8–9 at the Indian Institute of Science, where shortlisted teams will present their solutions before a jury comprising experts from healthcare, technology and public policy. Winners will receive cash prizes of ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh and ₹2 lakh for each problem statement, along with opportunities for collaboration with the NHA.
Through the initiative, the NHA aims to promote innovation and strengthen digital health systems to improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery under AB PM-JAY.
