The Prime Minister’s Mementos e-Auction 2025 has opened for bidding, featuring more than 1,300 unique items gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from across the country. Among the highlights this year are exquisite artifacts and crafts from North East India, representing Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. The online auction, which runs until October 2 at pmmementos.gov.in, offers citizens a chance to own these rare cultural treasures while contributing to the Namami Gange Project, as proceeds will go towards conserving the holy river Ganga.
Nagaland’s contributions include a wooden sculpture of a Mithun, the state’s cultural and economic symbol, and a handloom Naga shawl with striking red panels and traditional spear and shield motifs symbolizing honor and courage. From Meghalaya, bidders can acquire a cane ship model, a testament to the state’s ingenuity and craftsmanship with bamboo and cane.
Assam is represented by a Garuda mask from Majuli, famed for its classical dance and mask-making traditions, a traditional Assamese Japi, and a golden muga silk angavastra, each reflecting the state’s deep connection to its agrarian and artisanal heritage.
From Sikkim comes an elegant brass sculpture of Lord Buddha, showcasing the region’s Buddhist influence and intricate metalwork. Arunachal Pradesh adds a Wancho wooden sculpture of a tribal couple, representing the storytelling and woodcraft traditions of the Wancho community.
Officials have encouraged citizens to participate in the auction, calling it an opportunity to preserve cultural heritage and support environmental sustainability at the same time.
Bidding is open until October 2, and all proceeds will be directed towards river conservation efforts under the Namami Gange mission.
