Olympic Torch Relay stops off in France’s Seine-et-Marne

The Olympic Torch Relay paid a visit to the Seine-et-Marne department on the outskirts of Paris on Saturday (July 20).

Torch bearers included 110m hurdles gold medallist at the 1976 Montreal Games Guy Drut and Tokyo 2020 para-rowing bronze medallist Margot Boulet. The relay made stops at the National Gendarmerie Officers’ Academy in Melun and the medieval town of Provins, a UNESCO world heritage site, before finishing in Meaux.

The relay continues on Sunday (July 21) in the Val-de-Marne department and will culminate with the lighting of the cauldron in the host city Paris during the opening ceremonies of the Games.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympics will run from August 28 to September 8.
