Om Birla inspects arrangements for winter session in Parliament house complex

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Parliament House Complex to review the preparations for the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament, which is set to begin on November 25. This session, the third of the 18th Lok Sabha, will feature important discussions and events.

During his visit, Birla toured several key areas of the complex, including the Lok Sabha Chamber, corridors, lobbies, waiting rooms, and media facilities. His inspection also covered other essential sections of the complex to ensure all logistical arrangements are in place for the session’s smooth functioning.

The Speaker highlighted that the Winter Session will be significant due to a number of key events. These include Samvidhan Diwas, which will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, and Mahaparinirvan Diwas, commemorating the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Additionally, a ceremony will be held to mark the anniversary of the 2001 attack on Parliament.

Birla emphasized the need for efficient and smooth conduct of parliamentary proceedings and urged all concerned officials to ensure that the necessary arrangements, particularly related to cleanliness and hygiene, are in place. He stressed the importance of coordination among various agencies to uphold high standards, especially with regard to the catering services provided by ITDC within the Parliament House.

Security measures also came under review during the inspection. The Speaker directed officials to strike a balance between ensuring unhindered access for Members of Parliament and implementing stringent security protocols to maintain a safe environment throughout the session.
