Operation Sindoor has given Pakistan a “good dose of caution”: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that Pakistan will now think twice before attempting any misadventure against India after the decisive response it received during Operation Sindoor.

Interacting with soldiers during a Barakhana event in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Singh said the Indian Armed Forces had given Pakistan a “good dose of caution.” He reiterated that the operation has been halted, not ended, and warned that any future provocation would invite an even stronger response.

“Our pilots only gave a demo of India’s power to Pakistan. If given the opportunity, they will showcase our real strength,” he said.

Emphasising constant vigilance, the Defence Minister urged the forces to remain alert and prepared to counter any threat. “Our adversaries are never inactive. We must stay ready and take effective steps against their activities,” he added.

Rajnath Singh also underlined the role of the Armed Forces in nation-building, linking their dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047. “Our soldiers are not only protectors of borders but pioneers of nation-building. This century belongs to India, and with the strides we’ve made towards self-reliance, I am confident that our military will become the best in the world,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening border infrastructure, Singh said that development work is being carried out across border regions to boost defence preparedness.

Calling Barakhana a reflection of India’s unity and cultural values, he said, “Our forces are home to people of diverse religions, castes, languages, and regions. This diversity, reflected in a single plate during Barakhana, makes it superior to any other dinner gathering.”

Earlier in the day, the Defence Minister inaugurated Shauryavan — a unique Cacti-cum-Botanical Garden in Jaisalmer, developed by the Indian Army. The project transforms a stretch of the Thar Desert into a green oasis, symbolising resilience, ecological preservation, and innovation.

Singh also paid tribute at the Jaisalmer War Memorial, part of the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative. He viewed war trophies, artefacts, and a newly inaugurated Holographic Light and Sound Show that brings to life the stories of bravery from India’s military history.

On Friday, Rajnath Singh will visit forward areas and witness a Capability Demonstration Exercise by the Southern Command. He is also scheduled to address the Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer.
