The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has achieved a major milestone with creation of over 79.91 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) across the country, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The ABDM aims to establish a robust digital health ecosystem enabling seamless continuity of care across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare. By leveraging technology interventions such as telemedicine, it is particularly enhancing access to healthcare in remote and rural areas.
According to official data as of August 5, 2025, a total of 79,91,18,072 ABHAs have been created. Additionally, 4,18,964 health facilities have been registered on the Health Facility Registry (HFR), 6,79,692 healthcare professionals have been registered on the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), and 67.19 crore health records have been linked with ABHAs.
The digital platform allows citizens to create a unique health identity, enabling them to securely access, view, and share their medical records with healthcare providers. Health records are shared only with explicit and informed consent, ensuring privacy and data security.
A public dashboard has been made available for the National Health Authority (NHA), the implementing agency for ABDM, and for states and union territories to monitor progress through key performance indicators.
The monitoring of ABDM initiatives is conducted at both the central and state levels, with a strong emphasis on citizen-centricity and safeguarding personal data.
