Para-athlete Sachin Khilari clinched the silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final at the ongoing Paris Paralympics on Wednesday.
Sachin secured the second spot with a 16.32-meter throw, which is also an area best (AB). However, the Indian athlete narrowly missed the top spot by just 0.06 meters.
Canada’s Greg Stewart claimed the gold medal with a throw of 16.38 meters, marking his season-best (SB) performance. Meanwhile, Croatia’s Luka Bakovic took the bronze medal with a 16.27-meter throw.
In the previous Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, Sachin won the gold medal. He also secured the top spot in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the World Para Athletics Championship.
India’s para-athletes have made history in Paris by surpassing their previous highest medal tally of 19 from the Tokyo Paralympics three years ago.
The Indian contingent has added 21 medals to its growing tally and still has the opportunity to further extend its record medal haul in a single edition of the Paralympics.
